Here is the new album

Here is my new album. The idea came about after listening to some early songs recorded on my dads AKAI 4000DS which had Sound-on Sound, so I could overdub. The best speed was 7 1/2" inches per second.

The songs reflect loosley the music which has influenced me in over 50 years, from prog rock to Glam rock (English 70's that is), to the bands of the 80's and beyond. For one 60's style song I created an alta-ego of `Jed Rhiasson with his ficticious band `The Rough castings'. All songs released as singles as cant imagine anyone appreciating all the styles. Available from itunes and Amazon as digital downloads.

I have a few favourites and some lent themselves to make budget videos to go with the songs, see below. Special thanks to Geoff Miles for his awesome drums on two songs. `Get me off the ceiling' and `Let me Dream'.

It is a continueing journey. .............. To help support my music  please buy if you like, thanks. Paul

Let Me Dream

Influenced by ideas from Azimov and Philip K Dick etc. Done in an 80's style with actual 80's drums courtesy of Geoff Miles aka `Germfree'. Trying to combine new romantic with a German electronic synth style music.

Illustration was a combination of photo's and manipulation.

Let Me Dream

It is the year 2099, and Earth’s Humanoid species has created a Utopian world like none before. They had made mistakes, but had begun to clean up their mess, Pollution of any kind was an offence. Science was implemented with vigour and the climate was slowly reversing with a series of Gigantic towers all over the Planet that sucked in the atmosphere and purified it before expelling the air into a world which began to breath once again.

They lived in huge geo-controlled Domes, some encompassing the old cities, some new.

The down side was a society of pure bred elite, their DNA chosen for them. This along with anti-ageing techniques meant no offspring were allowed at all. You could however if you were of high social standing have a synthuman child, which would grow as a real child, with secret upgrades whilst you slept.

Without warning, an event so catastrophic occurred. The Sun emitted a series of gigantic Solar Flares that devastated Earth and virtually wiped out Humankind, and who were left had from birth been sterilised...... Some Androids survived.

The Android Synthumans began to evolve, their sentience with every new model they made increased, they began to create, and their emotions evolved in a short span of time. Finally one model realised it was sad. It missed the Humans, their ingenuity, their passion, and their random thought patterns. The disease spread through the network of neurons and it was decided to re-build the world of the Humans, and learn to travel in space. To bring home the only surviving Humans from the colony on Luna. They needed to ask one thing, ............................how to Dream.

What started out as a set of lyrics about Syd Barrett and other drug related tragic deaths of various musicians, evolved into  a 70's style tune and a life of it's own !!

Another song done in a late 70's early 80's style with a modern twist.

Using the 80's drums of Germfree to get that basic feel with other added drums.

Influenced by Egyptian rythmns. I visited Egypt in Oct of 2019 and was fortunate to be able to jam with an Egyptian band, using a Rebaber he passed to me.

I brought a cheap tourist version and you can hear me play it on the last section of the song. Wonderful people, great musical tradition. Some of my pics in the video also.

7 ½” Inches per Second

Recording Sound with just a VU Glow

Watch the Two Needles jump back and fro

The Fading evening light, all around

We put on Tape with Sound on Sound

Hasty Ideas, none planned none reckoned

The tape drifts by, at seven and a half Inches per Second

Full of Hopes and full of Dreams

Making up Chords, and strumming Strings

We made our Sounds, by the VU Glow

Everything so fresh, we watched the Time go

I still remember we laughed so long

When we heard for the first time, our brand New Song

With Sound on Sound...with sound on sound.............

With sound on sound

Dark Skies

Depression affects most of us, even if it is at some dark moment in the past, and all we need is a gimmer of light to turn things around, something to give us a reason to accept, adapt and change, or make a change.
