Bio of Paul Limb: solo artist. Please edit to suit...

To be honest a Bio isn’t really me. But here goes..... THE PAST...... I suppose my early interest in music of any significance is seeing a 60’s short at the pictures with my dad with various 60’s bands playing. I went home wanting to form a band...I invented songs in my head...my schoolmates thought i was daft. After experimenting with elastic bands on cigar tins, years past... I got my first summer job prior to art college, and was allowed to buy a Watkins Rapier 22. My dad a while later brought an Akai 4000DS, where instead of bouncing of two cassette recorders i could finally do songs with sound-on-sound.

So i suppose I have always written songs, and always recorded them overdubbing things myself. I played in various bands over the years, from fururist to bluesrock, jamming, learning the guitar and always self taught. Family life took over for many years and life in general......

Today, 2020, here i am once again, creating music...

In my own style, my own way. I dabble in a variety of styles. My songs tend to be sort of retro-pop, and sci-fi themed, with the odd instrumental, a few rockier, a venture into the gothic, and tales of love and the odd sensations it creates in us, rock and a more recently the last few albums have been labelled as Prog. Prog was always the mainstay of my vinyl album collection, but not a purist I enjoy all genres.

My guitar playing influences are wide and this comes out in the solo’s who influenced me in songwriting... well

Michael Schenker, Jimi Hendrix, Billy Gibbons, McClaughlin, Tonto’s expanding headband, early Roxy music, Japan, David Sylvian, Bill Nelson, Tod Rundgren, T Rex, Pink Floyd, Pink Fairies, the list could fill pages.

Some may say what has an ageing unknown got to offer now. I can only reply, something honest and something that although has a similar origin is different, which was the main aim of the original prog movement . In those days everything none classical or pop was called Progressive, which included rock bands and some electric folk. I always took the term to mean moving forward ie. Something new and different, a progression. Today it seems to have a different meaning

I get some airplay on various internet and offshore Radio Stations, across the world, and do it simply because I can’t imagine not doing it ... as it is so much fun.

Interests : I love art, and especially early sci-fi mixed in with Victoriana. I love all art deco, and the concept cars and objects of the 50’s to the 70’s. I use ALL my own images drawings etc in my cd and song images/covers/video content and with a background in Graphics enjoy that aspect immensely.

Other interests are early science fiction, i write short stories, and still love the megalithic monuments of the Neolithic and Bronze age which i visit and dowse when i get the chance. All this gives me ideas for songs. I am on spotify and make querky vids on youtube, you can buy my songs to download from itunes, and Amazon and I will gladly send any number of songs to internet radio stations as any airplay i consider to show at least someone appreciates the weirdness to air it to a wider audience.
